Note: This article is different from how to build and drive traffic to a new blog. If what you need is how to grow your new blog to start having organic traffic, then check out how to rank high on Google with a new blog right here or gradually follow the guide in this article.

Trending keyWord(s)

Now, what it takes to start getting massive traffic within a week of blogging is ranking well for at least one trending keyword. One keyword can feed. I shall teach you how to get one keyword that will feed you.

True, I didn’t really do much on keyword Analysis in my blogging series. I think this is a good start to more posts on keyword research.

Now, when it comes to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Keywords are ubiquitous; you will never stop hearing Keyword. Forget the grammar, Keywords are nothing but words and phrases you wish to rank for.

Example, if you want your post to appear on Google when someone searches “How to Make Money Blogging” then you must optimize your article for “make money blogging“. In this case, make money blogging is your focus keyword (word or combination of words you wish to rank for). Do you understand? Yes, sir…

You may also be wondering, how do I optimize my article to rank for a particular keyword? All you need is strong onpage SEO (as well as off-page).

Onpage SEO simply means everything you do on your blog while creating content. Worry no more. I have written a complete article on OnPage SEO here. Make sure you go through it.

I have successfully explained “keyword“. Up next is trending keywords.

Trending keywords mean words that so many persons are searching at a particular time. For example, every January 1st, Happy new year trends. Every four years, keywords related to World cup trend.

If you are in Education Niche in  Nigeria, Jamb and Post UTME keywords trend in their season. For news bloggers, political news trend weekly, for sports bloggers, they get trends almost every day (especially when Messi or Ronaldo perform magic). For bloggers, algorithm updates trend immediately Google releases a major update. In fact, a keyword must trend in a day.

If you are able to rank for any trending keyword in your niche, then you will drive massive traffic immediately. Go through the top trending keywords in Nigeria here.

Ranking for one keyword is important but raking for more than one keyword is more important.

I had a keyword which gave me over 50,000 visitors in one day. Now, the keyword has stopped trending. I had other backup keywords to replace it and this keeps my traffic going. Don’t rely on only one article. In fact, don’t depend on a few articles that are ranking well.

One keyword can feed you

It is one thing to create articles based on trending keywords while it is another ball game to rank for them. For your article to rank, the quality must be high, the article must be unique and you need high-quality do-follow backlinks. I have explained some above, others are highlighted below…

Recommended: Reasons you are not ranking with your new blog

High-Quality Content

Creating content is easy. You can just create a blog and start publishing articles anyhow. Any blogger can do that. What is difficult is creating an article that will rank. This is where quality content comes in.

It is very difficult to rank with a low-quality article. Even if you do, your ranking will eventually drop on Google. Therefore, there is need for you to create high-quality content. Want a guide on how to create quality and SEO friendly articles? See my ultimate quality content guide here.

Unique Content

Quality is different from uniqueness. Quality is doing something extremely well. You can copy someone’s quality article and modify; We can still call it quality. Uniqueness, it has everything to do with you.

Unique content is exceptional. It is exclusive to you. No one has done it that way before. Create articles that never existed. Even if they existed, it should be in a way that no one else has done it. For example, I wrote this article without copying a line from any blog or article. Can you hit your chest and say that you wrote your articles without copy and paste?

Note: Don’t write articles that nobody will search or like in the name of uniqueness.

Quality Do-follow Backlinks

Backlink is one of the three most important Google ranking signals out of over 200 Google ranking factors. The two other signals are content and Google Rankbrain. I have touched content many times in this article.

Rankbrain studies user intent (What people really need and how they behave while searching).  Backlinks are links from other sites to your site. The more links you get from authority websites to your own, the more you rank. Quickly see how to get a dofollow backlink for Google.

If you are able to follow all the principles above, you will get massive traffic within one week of blogging.

I also recommended that the above guide should be your watch in blogging. I am sure that this article is a good answer to those who have been asking, how long will it take me to getting 500 pageviews in my new blog. How long before you start getting any number of views depends on the above factors.
